Instead of sending the sheriff to physically arrest the person, South County Constable Office can make a professional, documented attempt to contact them, explain the court’s capias or warrant, and strongly encourage them to appear in court voluntarily. We meet them at home, work, or another appropriate location, explain the situation in plain English, and urge them to resolve it before it gets worse.

There is no physical arrest, no handcuffs, and no promise of results, but in many cases a firm, in-person visit from a constable is enough to get someone’s attention for a fraction of the cost and disruption of a custodial arrest. Our role is to inform, document, and encourage compliance with the court order within the limits of Massachusetts law, not to act as police.
